Apparently, this is a blind Georgian boy reading the Bible in braille. Somehow, braille in Georgian just seems weird, though when you think about it, there’s no sense to that feeling. Here’s what his fingers are reading:
Hot on the heels of a post on the absurd notion that the US should “tame” Afghanistan “out of the stone age,” we come across a rather different take on how to deal with obstreperous foreigners from the movers and shakers of Russia the USSR 2.0: In an interview published today in Izvestia [the original [...]

Keyser’s been a bit busy, so recreational reading has been restricted recently, but last night Keyser finished a new book to review, namely The Ghosts of Freedom: A HIstory of the Caucasus by Charles King. The title is somewhat mislead, as the topic is actually the Caucasus from the Russian conquest of the area in [...]

Well, seems today is a day for making connections all over the globe. First, Keyser finds he has a visitor from Wasilla AK (hi, Sarah!), and do you remember the posting the other day about the British journalist’s visit to a mountain village in Georgia? Well, someone over there in that village must have been [...]

Keyser’s loyal readers (both of you!) may have checked out the little gadgets on the left of the page that show where people have come from. If you put your cursor on the dots on the map, it says where people come from. First, all those readers must be using some sort of anonymous hosting [...]

So, here’s a report on the intentional destruction of Georgian cultural monuments by the Russians in their supposed effort to maintain peace in the region. As one should have expected, such talk was so much bullshit intended to cover up the Russians’ real aim, which is to reimpose their domination of the areas that broke [...]

Cool story from this guy who visits dangerous places, and this time visits a tourist town in the mountains of Georgia: Last month Russia invaded, occupied, and de-facto annexed portions of Georgia. During that time it was difficult, if not impossible, for reporters to see for themselves what was actually happening. I wanted to see [...]

“We Georgians will continue building our democratic future. We are focused on strengthening the community of democratic nations. The world must not permit Russia or others to assert spheres of influence and thus deny the right of free people to associate with like-minded nations.” Amen, brother. Keyser’s readers will no doubt pour over every word [...]
